Examine curriculum
Discuss the relevance of theories and teaching approaches in different social, cultural and institutional settings.
An ongoing academic collaboration · South Africa & Mauritius
A space for academics across the Global South to examine what we teach, exchange experiences and materials, and develop research together.
Our purpose
Founded by Dr Ntombifuthi Centurion Zwane, the South–South Curriculum Collaboration brings academics together to examine how theories, teaching practices and educational materials respond to the communities in which they are used.
We welcome African and other Global South perspectives. We ask how ideas of success, development and progression can be interpreted through local experiences, rather than treated as universal definitions.
This is a continuing collaboration. Exchanges and visits create the foundation for sustained reflection, shared research and future writing.
How we work together
Discuss the relevance of theories and teaching approaches in different social, cultural and institutional settings.
Share teaching experiences, materials and questions. Learn from what works, what needs adaptation and what remains unresolved.
Identify shared research questions and build comparative enquiry, collaborative writing and publication opportunities.
A starting framework
The RCCF offers an initial orientation for examining career knowledge through learners, relationships, context and ethics.
It is a starting point for collective enquiry. Members’ perspectives and experiences should question, refine and reshape the framework as the collaboration grows.
The current starting focus is career psychology, with space for dialogue across disciplines.

Rhodes University has announced a competitive call for collaborative initiatives that strengthen doctoral education, attract external research funding and/or increase research publications.
Supported activities may include research workshops, partnership development, visiting collaborators, research assistance, preliminary data collection and publication development.
We are exploring a Rhodes-led proposal to support the continuing South–South Curriculum Collaboration. Members are invited to contribute ideas for shared research, comparative enquiry and collaborative writing.
Proposals are submitted through the relevant Rhodes Faculty Dean. Funding has not been awarded. Participation and partner roles will be agreed before submission.
